What is boot flex?

Soft boots present the least amount of resistance against lower leg movement and tend to be cut lower on the calves. Medium boots balance softness and stiffness, optimizing both comfort and performance. Stiff boots maximize ridgid support in order to enhance responsivness. Consider both your performance style and comfort level preference when selecting the flex that's right for you.


Built-in asymmetric flex provides increased response and natural mobility by combining a rigid, high lateral panel and a low, softened medial panel.

Power liners are custom-moldable from calves to toes and feature additional ankle inserts for increased foothold and control.

Liners feature removable heel/ankle inserts for an increased supportive lock around ankles.

Salomon Malamute boots have conformable molded footbeds that provide foot stabilization and arch support for improved pressure distribution.

Anatomic power-frame shells provide lateral support for direct transmission of power through boot soles.

Removable Energizer bars located just inside the upper shells allow you to personalize the flex; use none, one or both of the bars.
