Kiss The Sky

Aspen Mountain Disc Golf & DDC Championships

Where: Aspen, Colorado

When: NOT SCHEDULED FOR 2008

Entry Limits:

Contact Information: Bill Wright 970-484-6932

Event Details:

Sorry everyone for not making this information available until now. We have decided not to hold KISS THE SKY for 2008. For the most part we have felt a declining interest in the last few years and thought it might make more sense to go to an every other year format. In addition there will be another major event at Snowmass this year and we didn't want to compete with that. Snowmass is very interested in supporting and promoting the 36 holes that they now have on the mountain. Although Aspen Mountain is truely something special, we thought it would be difficult to try to bring folks to the Aspen area twice in one summer. Hope to see you all in 2009 and stay in touch. We're working on more mountain area courses. Sundance Trail in the Redfeather Lakes area outside of Fort Collins has been a tremendous success. More course are planned in the area.

Player Package Pick-Up: Starting at 8am, by the Base of the Silver Queen Gondola (remember to check your starting hole #).

Player Meeting: 9 AM

Gondola Loading: 9:30AM (The players starting on the downhill holes or the far holes #14-17 should load first.)

Entry Forms: Please call if you need a form mailed to you. Otherwise you may download a pdf version of the form from the link above. This year we will be offering registration without lift tickets for those who may already have passes or would rather find alternative ways up the mountain. We will only have one choice for lift tickets, a three day pass. Individual tickets will have to be purchased directly at the lift ticket office at regular rates.

Starting Friday morning (June 29th) you may go in and get your 3-day lift ticket (if pre-paid via the registration form) for a lift up the mountain. DOUBLES will be played starting at 1pm on Friday afternoon. Meet at the top of the mountain for Doubles. This is a good way to preview the course. Remember the last lift ride down the mountain is at 4:30pm. You don't want to walk down!

Doubles is open registration for anyone with a limit of 72 players. If you are not pre-registered for the actual competition on Saturday and Sunday, please do not show up expecting to play. If you are pre-registered, then your name will be on the list at the Silver Queen Gondola ticket office. We will start a waiting list when the event fills for those who wish to play, but did not register in time.

Accommodations:

Make arrangements immediately. Lodging is always difficult in Aspen and the camping areas fill very early. There is a Jazz festival this particular weekend so we are competing for housing with a large group. See the list of links below to accommodation possibilities:

Camping information is also available at Whiteriver National Forest Government's website, Wildernet.com

Other Activities:

Even though you may not be able to enter the Kiss The Sky event, you do have some options if you are traveling in or through the area and you want to play. Doubles is held on the traditional Kiss The Sky course at Aspen Mountain on Friday, June 29th and is open to all. There will be a $5 fee to participate. Events are also planned for Snowmass on Monday, June 28th
